Homemade Jello Recipe: A Delicious and Healthy Treat for Summer

As the summer heat sets in, there's nothing quite as refreshing as a cool, wobbly bite of jello. But did you know that making your jello at home can be a healthy treat with benefits? This simple homemade jello recipe uses natural juice and unflavored beef gelatin, offering a nutritious alternative to store-bought versions loaded with artificial colors and sugars.



Ingredients: What you will need


  • 4 cups of juice (choose your favorite, such as apple, grape, or a mix of citrus juices)

  • 2 tablespoons unflavored beef gelatin (such as Further Foods (code wellnesshomemade to use my affiliate link) Grass-Fed Gelatin. Do NOT use collagen or protein powder.)

  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional for added sweetness but I don't use this)

  • Molds of choice- You can find a ton of options on Amazon that fit your size needs.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Juice: Pour 3 cups of juice into a medium saucepan.

  2. Bloom the Gelatin: In a separate bowl, pour the remaining 1 cup of juice and sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of unflavored beef gelatin. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to "bloom." This step ensures the gelatin will dissolve smoothly without clumps.

  3. Heat the Juice: Slowly heat the 3 cups of juice in the saucepan over medium heat until it starts to steam, but do not let it boil.

  4. Combine and Dissolve: Once the juice is steaming, add the bloomed gelatin mixture to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved, which may take a few minutes. If you're using honey or agave for added sweetness, stir until it is fully dissolved.

  5. Pour and Set: Pour the mixture into a glass or silicone mold and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer to the refrigerator and allow it to set for at least 4 hours or until firm.

  6. Enjoy: Once set, cut the jello into fun shapes or scoop it out with a spoon. Enjoy your healthy, homemade treat!
