My Morning Routine (That Took Me Years to Figure Out)

Let me be clear: my morning routine didn’t just magically appear because I read a self-help book or copied some influencer on Instagram.

It’s taken years of trial and error—through motherhood, burnout, building a business, and hormonal chaos—to land on a rhythm that actually works for me right now.

And even still, I know it won’t always look like this. Because as life shifts, our routines do too. The key is building rhythms that support your energy, not drain it.

Right now, these are the rhythms that set me up for success each morning:

1. The Non-Negotiables

Bathroom. Teeth. Shower. Get ready.

Nothing glamorous. But this is my foundation. And truthfully? Getting myself ready FIRST sets the tone for a productive day.

I know some say to start with rest, journaling, or meditation—and that’s great if it works for you. But for me? I’m a business owner, a mom, a woman with multiple hats. I need to feel awake, dressed, and clear-headed before I do anything else.

My shower resets my nervous system. My outfit shifts my mindset. I don’t roll out of bed hoping motivation will hit—I get up and create it.

2. Multitasking with Red Light Therapy

Here’s the part where some blogs tell you to sit in stillness with tea and your thoughts. Yeah… no.

I’ve got a house full of humans and a business to run. So instead, I pop on my red light therapy panel while I do my makeup.

Call it multitasking, biohacking, or mom-mode—whatever works. It’s quiet enough and I’m still supporting my body while getting things done.

3. Elderberry Boost > Lemon Water

I used to be a lemon water first-thing kind of girl. But now? I’ve made the switch to something that actually gives back.

While I’m doing my hair and getting dressed, I drink room temperature water mixed with my Elderberry Boost powder. It’s become a non-negotiable part of my morning because it checks so many boxes:

  • It supports a strong immune system with antioxidants and natural vitamin C

  • It offers natural anti-inflammatory properties, which can help ease seasonal allergies

  • It includes a little fiber to gently support digestion and gut health

  • It helps me hydrate with purpose—no added sugar, no steeping, no prep

I’ve found it’s one of the easiest and most effective ways to give my body a head start before breakfast, before coffee, and before the day fully kicks in.

4. Coffee, Chaos & Breakfast Buffet

By this time, I’m heading down the hall, wishing the girls good morning and usually being handed a fresh cup of coffee by my husband (yes, he’s a keeper).

Then it’s breakfast. And let me be honest—it’s different every day. Some mornings it’s:

  • Hard boiled eggs and fruit

  • Breakfast burritos or sandwiches

  • Sausage, toast, maybe avocado

  • Or whatever leftovers are prepped and ready

I try to make it buffet-style, so the girls can grab what they want and we’re all out the door on time. We always have a bowl of fresh fruit available—easy to pick at or add to any plate.

It’s not gourmet, but it’s real. And it works.

5. Gym… or Grounding

If it’s a gym day, I drop our 14-year-old off and head straight there.

And yes—I get fully ready before I go to the gym. Hair done. Makeup on. Why? Because when I leave, I’m often going straight into work mode. Meetings, calls, client check-ins—you name it.

Gross? Maybe to some. But let’s be honest: we do what we have to do. I always shower before bed, so I’m not slipping under the covers covered in sweat. But in the morning, this routine works.

If it’s a non-gym day, this is when I make space for the mental side of wellness. I take 10–15 minutes outdoors—just me and the fresh air. I’ll journal, meditate, or do whatever helps regulate my nervous system and reset my mind.

Some mornings it’s deep and reflective. Other times it’s just writing down three things I’m grateful for. Either way, it sets the tone for a clear, calm start—and honestly, sometimes it carries me for days.

Final Thoughts

If you’re still figuring out your own morning rhythm, hear me when I say: it doesn’t need to be perfect.

It doesn’t have to look quiet, curated, or Instagram-worthy. It just has to feel supportive—for you.

Start with one habit. Then add another. Stack what makes sense. Toss what doesn’t. Eventually, it all adds up.

You don’t need a morning routine that impresses the internet—you need one that fuels your life.
