Breakfast- "The best part of waking up, is breakfast ________

If you didn't sing that at any point, I'm not sure we can be friends haha!

Let's face it, a better breakfast brings a better day. Getting our kids out of the house with a well-fueled body can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. The goal is sustained energy that helps everyone focus.

The way to do this is to make sure you and your kids are fueled with

  • Protein- Eggs, breakfast sausage, clean protein powder, yogurt, chia seeds, hemp seeds etc.

  • Fiber-filled carbs- Fruits! Fruits are fiber filled carbohydrates along with whole wheat bread. Veggies would be a bonus at breakfast but also provide fiber and some provide carbohydrates as well.

  • Healthy Fat- Avocados, coconut oil, avocado oil, nuts, seeds, etc.

The first tip is to set yourself up for success- Remember to keep it simple, It doesn't have to be hard but you may need to take some time to prep. This can be incredibly helpful even if you want your kids to be self-sufficient in the morning. You'll want to make sure that you have things ready like

  • Cut up fruit and veggies

  • Make Breakfast burritos

  • Make my breakfast sausage- Recipe Book

  • Hard boil eggs

  • Overnight oats

  • Protein muffins (use your favorite protein powder to make muffins

  • Yogurt parfaits or have things ready so you and the kids to make your own

  • Use Seven Sundays Cereal or Muesli! and use my code Wellness30 for 30% off.

The second step is to lead by example- I know it can be hard to stop and take a few minutes to eat breakfast but if you do it, then your kids do it. If you take the time to sit down for just a few minutes and fuel both of you, it could be an amazing way to start the day. This means you may have to get up a bit earlier than you did before but when you take the time to sit down and eat breakfast and fuel yourself the way you should, your day will be set with far better intentions than running out the door with a chocolate Costco muffin.

The third step is to be CONSISTENT! The first week of doing this is fun and exciting but once life throws you a curve ball you may lose momentum. Push through the days that seem hard and make eating breakfast a routine for everyone. This will help make this a habit that will help instill healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.

Cheers to a great start to the new year!
